Consultation process.
You might be able to claim back part or all of your consultation cost from your dogs insurance company. Myself or your vets can help with this if needed.
After talking to customers and conducting an online survey on dog owner forums, I have come to understand that not everyone is comfortable with or has the time for in-person consultations.
My remote online behaviour consultation sessions are designed for all those people and dogs that perhaps don’t want a stranger in their home, feel too anxious to meet in-person, don’t have the time to meet up in-person, or have a dog whose behaviour might be triggered by my presence.
Due to the nature of remote consultations it is important I ask a lot of questions and might ask for photos or video tours of an area of your house to enable me to gain a deeper insight into your dogs living environment or videos of the problem behaviour such as capturing your dogs response when left alone. This doesn’t require specialist equipment and can be carried out with a phone video/camera.
Videos provided by yourself of the behaviour in action allow me to rewind as necessary to really observe the small behaviours. Dog reaction time is fast and behaviours are often very subtle and unseen to the untrained eye. Video footage helps pinpoint these behaviours unlike in-person and allows me to replay the video to yourself and show the exact moment intervention would have proved beneficial or help you know what to look out for or avoid in future. We can also use videos to see how training is progressing where I can tell you how amazing you are doing or give tips on where improvement could be made.
Remote consultations can be via WhatsApp, Teams or Skype video, phone calls or even emails to begin if you prefer.
The first thing you need to do is fill out my contact form and send with a brief description of what behaviour you need help with. I will then send you a second questionnaire which you can fill out in your own time at home or go through with myself at a date and time to suit us both. I then might ask for videos. We will then arrange a one hour consultation where we discuss the behaviour and I go through with you a short and long term treatment plan to manage, lessen or stop the unwanted behaviour.
After this I can offer shorter half hour sessions if further support and advice is needed.
